Who we are

Sam Carmel (They/Them) UW-AAB

Sam is the trainer behind June Dog. They have over a decade of experience including a certificate of Applied Animal Behavior from the University of Washington, and years of working in boarding and daycare facilities. A Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies from Western Washington University helps Sam bring a sociological, psychological, and social justice oriented perspective to training and the politics of the dog industry.

They were trained in harm repair at Restorative Justice Project Maine, and do additional work in addiction recovery services, which influences the care and understanding they bring to the human side of coaching.

Most importantly, they are a huge nerd, and have been studying animal behavior obsessively for as long as they can remember, and are enthusiastic to share all that they have learned along the way.
